Social Development

The Diocese aims to promote development as process rather than projects.

Sustainable community development is meant to ensure food security, household incomes, basic primary health care, improved formal education, and functional adult literacy.

These programmes will help build the capacity of the Christians to support their families and the Church.

The West Nile Ecumenical Vocational Training Centre was initiated to open opportunities to many youth who cannot continue with their education for one reason or another. They are being given one year basic vocational skills in the areas of:

  • Brick laying and concrete practice (BCP);
  • Motor vehicle mechanics and driving (MV), and
  • Carpentry and Joinery (CJ).

This is done in partnership with CMS Ireland and other friends who are making substantive contributions to subsidize the fees of the students.

Many of the trainees have become job creators rather than job seekers.
